Birthday Fun!

Well, since it was my Birthday on Saturday, My kids(mostly Ashlee, okay only Ashlee)wanted to make some cupcakes for fun....Sooo,Ashlee with the help of Sadie & Mikayla,Made and decorated some cupcakes for me!! I don't know,once you hit a certain age birthdays aren't as fun as they used to be. But I wanted to celebrate with them somehow & this was a fun way for them!! Don gave me my birthday present early this year,(money & a Trip)since he was going to be out of town. But he did send me a dozen red roses!! How SWEET is that. Any way I really love my amazing husband and great kids and I have a lot to be thankful for! My life is truly great!!!

I love this scripture, and it reminds me of our Matthew, who laid down his life for his family, his friends & his Country!! I am so grateful for the sacrifices he made for us...As well as all of the Soldiers who leave their families and the comforts of home-not knowing their fate! I am so grateful for this wonderful Country we are able to live in, I hope that I never take it for granted & always remember the price for freedom! We love you Matthew and we are so grateful to you forever!

Ever since James could walk he has always been rather creative with his dress up clothes! Not in a feminine way but an interesting way. We would always catch him wearing Don's shoes... that were huge on his little baby feet,hats too big for his head , glasses etc... he would wear his sweats and put underwear over them and a cape & he was transformed into a super hero. I remember one time I could hear James and Jake in the bathroom laughing( not usually a good sign for a 2 & a 4 year old), when I walked in James had some markers in his hand and had drawn ALL OVER their faces! When I inquired about this, James said "Look Mom, We're Lamanites")!! It was actually pretty funny...Well as you can see by this last picture James still can find creative ways of making people laugh! I love that about him...he is always up for a good laugh & makes life at the Hulet house very interesting and fun!!

Halloween Fun!

Well, Halloween has come and gone.....Candy, that will last til Christmas, kids on a sugar high, cavities, it's a good thing we go to the Dentist next month! Dr. Clark will be grateful! We had a lot of fun this year, yes even with Don out of town. James & Jake both had the day off school & both also had a few parties to go to. Ashlee had her Halloween parade & Parties at school! This year Crestview Elementary was the Cool School of the Week. Big Budah from fox 13 news was there & many neighborhood kids were on T.V.Something I always try to do for Halloween is make a festive dinner, This year it was Dinner in a Pumpkin. It was okay, but my kids like the jack o lantern hamburgers the best. Ashlee had a great time trick or treating with her friends & I just stayed home and relaxed! We never have any kids come to our house.(we figure it is to far for them to come for just a candy bar....Maybe next year we'll try something different. Everyone is happy and tired & full of candy! So all is well! Happy Halloween!!!

Corn Maze Fun!!

Last night we decided to take the kids to the Corn Maze, since our time to do this is quickly running out! Of course James did his typical thing (he hides & then he jumps out, to see how bad he can scare you). We are all pretty used to this, so he doesn't get much of a reaction from us anymore. Any way We had a really fun time & this just may be something we do every year!! Here are some pictures from the night:)!

Carving Pumpkins!!

Our friends invited Ashlee to go to a pumpkin carving party. She Carved a beautiful pumpkin:). She actually loves this because it lets her get creative, which is one of her strong points! Every year, her pumpkins look better than the year before! Ashlee loves hanging out with friends and Jordyn is one of her very best friends(since preschool). Thank you Erin and Jordyn for the fun time!! by the way Ashlee's Pumpkin is in the middle!

I'm glad I'm not going Trick or Treating this year!

About once a month, Ashlee & I have a night out with some good friends of ours! Last night, we took the girls to the Bonsai Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. This restaurant is a little like Tepanyaki, & Benihana, where they cook your food right in front of you! We had sooo much fun watching the Cook. He did all kinds of tricks with his utensils & he even threw each person a shrimp, to see if they could catch it in their mouths. It was pretty funny, Ashlee's was out of the ballpark, & one of the guys at our table got hit in the head with his! After Dinner, we went to see Beverly Hills Chihuaha. The girls choice, not ours. It was a silly movie, but we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!!

I have been in "treat"mode lately. Maybe it's because I am starting Weight Watchers on Monday & this is my last week of cookies, candies etc. My kids have been BEGGING me to make Caramel Apples. I must admit, they are my favorite fall treat! So we went to the store & bought the YUMMIEST apples EVER!! They are actually a new crop called "Honey Crisp" Not too sweet and not to sour, just perfect! So, Ashlee, Jake & I made some Caramel Apples just for fun the other night. They turned out sooo good! On a sidenote: Weight Watchers...Here I come!!

DANCE!!

It's that time of year again! Ashlee has started her Jazz & Ballet classes again this fall, she looks forward to it every year. We always have one problem, she has to take a bunch of "STUFF" with her(Ballet & Jazz shoes), along with a few other necessities, and so she needs some type of bag....We actually like it (the Bag)to stand out, so she doesn't get it confused with someone else's bag. I have been looking everywhere & I couldn't find one SHE liked, so we decided to make one. As luck would have it, I found an old preschool bag, some iron on decals and some pink & white felt in my very unorganized "craft room", and this is what we ended up with!! Not too bad, I thought it was kind of cute since I was the one who made it!!

Ashlee's Mountain Project

For Ashlee's school assignment, the kids were supposed to make a mountain or a natural formation! She is such a creative girl, let me tell you the ideas in that kids head..... Anyway, she made some mountains out of paper mache & Painted it to look like a mountain, and then she had the idea to put a stream going down the mountain & into a lake so by using clear plastic cups cut in half & glued together, so that water would actually go down into a plastic cup, she then painted it blue to give it more of a real look! Ashlee was able to demonstrate it in class and got two thumbs up by the teacher! Good Job Ashlee!!!

I was just thinking how weird it is that I have a child in High School! I am certainly old enough, it just brings back so many memories of good old Olympus High. Tonight was Olympus' Homecoming dance, and James has been preparing for it for a couple of weeks now. It has been so fun to see the excitement as he made all of the plans & was able to pay for it himself!! He doubled with one of his best friends, and what was really fun was that the girls they went with are best friends too. They went to TGI Friday's for dinner & just because I LOVE to embarrass my kids, I made them come to our house for a photo Session before they went to the dance:), They actually looked really cute & they matched perfectly! I have to admit that it makes me feel a little sad that he is growing up so fast, but it is also fun to see the young man James' is becoming!!
